BEING A MAKER
PROJECT: Mobility of Pupils
TARGET GROUP: Primary & Secondary & Upper-secondary School Students
The maker movement inspires maker education. The maker movement is a culture of do-it-yourself (DIY) persons who seek to become more conscious of their surroundings. They are tinkers, inventors, and innovators. They adore reworking existing technologies into something entirely new. Makers like “hacking” into their surroundings and improving the design through joint efforts.
This programme aims to incite students to make new, innovative things in a creative way. Crucial point is to try over and over again until they succeed. When the programme finishes, students will call themselves “I am a Maker”
Stages of Being a Maker Learner (sparked by the SAMR model):
1. Copy – make something almost exactly as someone else has done.
2. Advance – gain more advance knowledge and skills by doing similar projects
3. Embellish – add something that has been done; add a little of one’s self to it.
4. Modify – take what others have done and modify or morph it into something new.
5. Create – make or create some new, unique, different than what has been created before
